Vegas odds-makers see Bucs, Jaguars gaining on NFL playoff pack

Most everybody seems to like what the Buccaneers and Jaguars have done to improve themselves this offseason. Most everybody that is except the odds-makers who set the betting lines in Las Vegas.

The folks at Bovada, an online casino, racebook and sportsbook, have published their lines for the first week of the NFL season and the Bucs and Jags are both listed as slight underdogs.

The Bucs came in as a 2 ½-point road dog against the Dolphins, which some will suggest means the Bucs are actually favored, while the Jaguars have been listed as 4 ½-point road dog against the Texans.

The Dolphins and Texans both made the playoffs last year while the Bucs just missed and the Jaguars missed badly, so these opening lines suggest that even the folks in Vegas believe the Bucs and Jags will be better.

It remains to be seen how much better they’ll be, but it’s never a bad thing when the Vegas odds-makers, who tend to be more right than wrong, see your team gaining on the playoff pack.
