There is definite anticipation on the USF campus and around the area, as the Bulls come off an 11 win season with their star QB returning and a proven new boss in Charlie Strong taking over this season.

On Saturday afternoon, USF Spring practice will culminate with their Green and Gold game on campus. All everything quarterback Quinton Flowers, the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, is clearly the star/leader and most eyes will be on his play.

For his part, Strong and his staff, who took over when Willie Taggart bolted for Oregon in December, has put their imprint on this 2017 version all ready. He told the media Friday afternoon that he’s pleased with what he’s seen so far:

Spring practice was not without controversy as three weeks ago, fifth year senior defensive back Hassan Childs was engaged in a road rage incident and was shot by the other driver. Childs was charged by Tampa Police with felonies involving the incident and Strong dismissed him from the team.

Back on the field, USF has had some interesting visitors to Fowler Ave. and the campus practices including this guy, Friday:

Interestingly, Strong said his staff would hold a player draft for the teams for the game today, and there’s no word if would be arm wrestling, or some other feat of strength for the use of Flowers at QB. Or Perhaps, he will play some for both teams.

In any event, expectation has rarely been like this for USF and their fan base is ready to go, starting even in April.
