In a wild American Conference East Division Friday night game, the Temple Owls exacted revenge for a late season defeat to USF in November last year, by pulling away in the second half for a 46-30 win.

The Owls butchered USF’s run defense to the tune of 319 yards on the ground, and sophomore Ryquell Armstead had 210 of them including 2 TD’s as Temple never trailed in the second half.

Here was Armstead’s game breaking 76 yard TD run in the first half:

Fellow Owl RB Jahad Thomas also scored twice on the ground in the second half, as Temple improved to 5-3 overall, but more importantly at 3-1 in the AAC. Temple now has the tiebreaker in the division over the Bulls

USF QB Quinton Flowers finished with 187 yards passing and 2 TD’s and added an additional 90 yards on the ground with a score before leaving the game late in the fourth with a left hamstring injury. His backup, Brett Kean threw an interception on his first play after taking over and the Owls scored on Thomas’ second TD run for the clinching TD on the next play.

USF stud running back Marlon Mack was held to just 67 yards rushing, but did have a fourth quarter 30 yard TD run.

The loss drops the Bulls to 6-2 and 3-1 in AAC play. USF also had the nation’s longest streak with at least 200 yards rushing snapped at 12 games and with at least 35 points scored ended at 11 games.
