The Miami Hurricanes looking to make it three straight victories on Saturday at Carter-Finley stadium vs. the NC State Wolfpack had a slow first half, but came alive in the second half to walk away with a 27-13 win.

The first half was pretty uneventful on both sides were battling on the defensive end. It was tied 3-3 going into the break, so there isn’t much to talk about. On Miami’s first possession in the second half, they drove the ball down the field with Mark Walton running it in for the TD. At 10-3, NC State drove the ball down the field had the ball in the red zone, but Pack QB Ryan Finley threw in the end zone. On the ensuing possession, Canes drove the ball down the field again, with Mark Walton punching it in for a one yard TD. 17-3 Miami.

NC State didn’t go away however, with Matthew Dayes rushing it in for a three yd touchdown run, 17-10 to close out the third quarter. Miami would tack on a field goal and NC State would follow, 20-13. With 2:12 left and Miami looking to burn the clock with the ball, were moving it down the field. Mark Walton would run for 24 yards out to put the game on ice. It was his third TD of the day, and he’s now over 1,000 rushing yards on the season.

Another important note is that freshman WR Ahmmon Richards had 9 catches for 117 yards, enough to surpass Michael Irvin’s freshman record. If you have watched Richards this season, you can tell how great this young man is going to be. He is already one of the best receivers in the conference and the Canes were able to exploit the match ups, as expected.

The Canes are now 7-4 and are on a three game winning streak. They play Duke next weekend. It will be interesting which bowl they will be going to.
