We already know that the Buccaneers are a hot topic around the NFL, its media and fans. This includes the pending appearance on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” training camp reality show starting this August.
Improving from 2-14 the year before QB Jameis Winston arrived, to 9-7 in his second season of play last year, means the bandwagon is filling up with expectations.
Well, consider the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” show to be officially in the Winston/Buccaneers hype column. First, it started earlier this week with the panel all giving their “top five players under the age of 25,” and co-host Peter Schrager wasted no time going “all-in” on the former Heisman Trophy winner and #1 overall pick.

Interesting that his list also has stud WR Mike Evans on it, as well. One other panelists also had Evans in their top five, as well. Clearly, they are “the 1-2 punch” in Tampa Bay that the Bucs have now built around adding the likes of WR DeSean Jackson in free agency and TE O.J. Howard in the first round of the 2017 draft.
Then, the “Buc love” continued on Wednesday morning when Schrager and the panel began going over the final 10 players of the recently revealed “NFL Top 10” from Monday night. Schrager immediately offered this for the upcoming season:

Again, for perspective, there were three elite QB’s, Matt Ryan who played in last year’s Super Bowl, Aaron Rodgers, who’s won the Super Bowl and then the #1 overall selection for this year’s player poll, Tom Brady of the five time World Champion Patriots, who are on the 2017 Top Ten list.
So, it’s not unrealistic that Winston will be on center stage for next season and beyond. But, clearly the standard for a QB getting in that top 10 is playing in “The Big Game” and you had better do it soon.
Still, Winston having thrown or 4,000 or more yards in each of his first two seasons, and the Bucs having improved in the win column, make Jameis and the Buccaneers an exciting proposition for 2017.
