Pick your cliche’. “You can’t teach speed.” “Speed Kills.” etc. The bottom line is UCF’s Adrian Killins has speed, a lot of it, and, he’s quietly become arguably the fastest weapon in college football you haven’t really heard about….until recently.
In Saturday night’s 40-13 demolition of Memphis, Killins recorded not only the longest run from scrimmage in UCF history, but also, in the recently formed American Athletic Conference.
Ninety. Six. Yards.

The only thing missing from that 96 yard TD was fire coming out of the back of Killins shoes a la a super hero on the big screen or a video game. It also earned Killins AAC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.
While he’s starting to turn more heads in his sophomore season, the 5’8″ Killins burst, figuratively and literally, on the scene for the Golden Knights a year ago with a pair of spectacular plays. First, an 87 yard TD scamper at Michigan’s “Big House” and later a 100 yard kickoff return for touchdown at East Carolina.
Throw in another game against FIU in 2016 where Killins had another 61 yard TD run plus, a 60 yard reception, and you can clearly see he has big play capability that has the UCF staff salivating.
And, it’s not just speed on the football field, either.
Killins came to UCF from Daytona’s Mainland High School, as the two time defending Florida 3A High School 200m state champion. And, he narrowly missed (by .01) winning the 3A 100m title in 2016 for the state track “double” in those prestigious speed events.
And when you have the reputation of being a speed merchant, everyone wants to race you.
That would include long time Orlando sportsradio personality and radio voice of the Knights, Mark Daniels.
Daniels, who’s over 40, joked earlier in the season that he wanted to race Killins for fun and now, that gimmick has taken on a life of it’s own for UCF fans, etc.

Classic response. And excellent advice for Daniels and the Knight’s opponents.
UCF gets ready to hit the road in conference play this Saturday at Cincinnati and you better believe the Bearcats have been talking in their building this week about finding, getting in front of, and tackling #9 in UCF Black and Gold before he gets loose, again.
Because, if he does……..
