Could UCF lose Scott Frost to his former employer?

Without a doubt, it’s been a tremendous turnaround for UCF already this season. Off a winless 2015, they already have six wins with two games remaining, and are bowl eligible. More and more people are noticing the improvement and in conjunction, noticing head coach Scott Frost.

Now, there’s growing speculation out west that after a humbling season in Eugene, OR, Frost’s previous employer, the Oregon Ducks, may be about to delete head coach Mark Helfrich. Our partners at FanragSports.com have been writing about it for two weeks, including this item from the weekend from Matthew Zemek

Enter the name of Scott Frost, who’s a year removed from Offensive Coordinator and QB coach, including for Marcus Mariota.
We don’t have any insight into how desperately Oregon would want Frost back. Plus, the argument can be made that Helfrich’s hire was based on him having been Chip Kelly’s OC in the first place. And further, that the Ducks would love for a more proven national name coach this time. Makes sense.

Then again, Frost is a former QB at Nebraska, has familiarity with the program, and has just demonstrated that he and his staff assembled could engineer an infusion into a bad situation at UCF. It’s not the craziest thing in the world that Oregon would want him back and sorry, UCF fans, a high profile Pac-12 job paying him tons more, like this one, is one you take. Immediately.

Oh, and if  coach Tom Herman is leaving the Houston Cougars (for Texas, LSU, name another) and if for example, Vandy fires Derek Mason, it’s also a good bet that Frost’s name will come up.

Perhaps, Frost is thrilled to be in Orlando (he’s thrilled that he’s at the minimum going to get a raise soon with a new contract, too) or perhaps, he could be “one and done” coaching at UCF.
