I’m probably the least qualified person to make any type of Super Bowl predictions as I tend to get every game I have chosen wrong. But that isn’t stopping me from making a bold and unsubstantiated prediction for this game. I predict the Atlanta Falcons will win the Super Bowl and that RB Devonta Freeman will win the game’s MVP.

Freeman has been instrumental all season for the Falcons as part of the sick backfield joined by Tevin Coleman. Both are dual threats who have reeked havoc on opposition defenses this year. Freeman has a rushing TD and a receiving TD in his two playoff games en-route to the Super Bowl. We also wrote on F.F.I. that he has a shot at a “championship triple,” if and when the Falcons are victorious.

Usually it’s the QBs who get the nod for MVP of the Super Bowl. This game is being touted as one of the best QB match ups in history, considering the statistical season Matt Ryan had and Tom Brady going for his record 5th super bowl ring. That said on both sides of the ball, the running games are very strong. Many experts, which doesn’t include me obviously have said that the running game is going to make the difference. This is where I’m drawing my logic.

I find that Freeman poses a major threat to the Patriots defense.  His ability to find space in the open field makes him a deadly weapon. He also has breakaway speed that he can take it to the house. The third year player out of Florida State will have a big time game today, en route to Atlanta winning their first Super Bowl. Mark it down! But don’t come after me if you lose money from it.

I already warned you, gamblers discretion advised.

Born in the Nation’s Capital, Washington D.C., Ari Russell watched the rise of the 1980’s Miami Hurricanes and knew that he had to be part of the “U” someday. After graduating from Coral Gables, Ari rose through the ranks of the former XM Satellite Radio and then Sirius/XM as college football executive producer. He later spent 2 seasons as the publisher of the website “Beyond U Sports” focusing on major college football/basketball. Ari brings a great perspective on everything Miami, including the Dolphins to F.F.I.
