We continue to repeat that it’s only a couple of weeks after the NFL Draft, and you can’t glean a lot from mini-camps where players are in shorts and going 2/3 speed. nonetheless, as hype continues for a prominent player, we pay attention. And it’s continuing from new Vikings second round pick Dalvin Cook.
Thursday on the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” show, former Redskins and Texans GM Charlie Casserly was asked about the Vikings chances and while he talked about their offensive line first, he quickly turned to Cook:
"They may have hit the home run of the Draft with Dalvin Cook."

As Casserly points out, Cook will have to share time with veteran free agent signee Latavius Murray, but he’s a much more explosive back than Murray, and that’s in his favor big time.
Casserly even went so far as to say that Cook was a “Top 10 talent” that dropped to the second round “through his own fault.” We’re not sure if that means his choices in friends and “hanger ons” or the fact that apparently Cook didn’t interview well with at least a couple teams, as they went over things individually.
Still, the Vikings do have some pieces in place and Cook if healthy and ready to go mentally, should help them immediately.
