The lifeblood of any big time program is recruiting and specifically being able to reload. The FSU Seminoles continue to do this on a regular basis and got another boost Thursday afternoon, when four star defensive back recruit Asante Samuel Jr. verbally committed to the Noles for 2018.
Samuel made the news of his non-binding commitment official on social media:
— Asante Samuel Ⓜ️ (@godschild3_) April 13, 2017
Samuel, Jr. is the son of former NFL DB Asante Samuel who played 11 seasons with the Patriots, Eagles and Falcons and led the NFL in interceptions twice.
The younger Samuel, a star at heralded St. Thomas Aquinas in Miami, had been offered by none other than the likes of Alabama, Michigan and Ohio State, as well as all of the major schools in Florida.
Apparently his final two choices were Miami and Florida State. Nole Nation is very pleased he went with the latter.
It’s important to remember that he cannot actually sign with Florida State until the February national signing day next year.
And obviously, ….is free to change his mind. Not likely, but stay tuned.
