We know that it’s only May, but the hype is picking for Florida State football headed to this August, including those who set the odds for “short term investors.” A.K.A., Vegas and the online gambling sites.
On Wednesday the site, Bet Online, posted it’s win totals for what they consider are the five prominent football programs headed into the 2017 season. The Noles were one of the programs and were set at an under/over of 10.5 wins for the upcoming regular season. This is about where you would expect that number to be in light of the fact that coach Jimbo Fisher has averaged 10 regular season wins over his previous seven seasons in Tallahassee.
For the record, they also set Alabama, Ohio State u/o totals also at 10.5 in the regular season. While Michigan was set at 10 and USC at 9.5 for the 2017 regular season.
Meanwhile, another site, Sportsbook.AG, released it’s first odds this weekend for conference champions for the upcoming year. And interestingly, with Clemson as the defending national champs and Louisville bringing back Heisman winning QB Lamar Jackson, it’s the Noles who are actually favored to win the ACC by that site.
FSU is actually the 5/4 favorite to take the title (Wagering $4 to only make $5 is substantially favoring someone or something). Meanwhile the site listed Clemson next at 7/2 and Louisville at 9/2 to win the ACC in 2017.
The site also listed Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State and USC a substantial favorites to win their conferences.
Finally, there are also Heisman Odds that have been out for a little while and while, USC QB Sam Darnold is the favorite (even over defending winner Jackson) at several of the sports books and sites, most of them have FSU QB Deondre Francois (above) somewhere around 12-14/1 to potentially take home the hardware.
One thing in Francois’ favor is that the more Florida State is winning while he continues to play on national t.v., then the better his chances will grow.
And one more thing that Nole fans are beaming with, the arch rival Gators are nowhere to be found among betting favorites above.
