We are about to reach the month of April and the frenzy of the NFL Draft will increase. You will hear players being hyped up and some of it is legit and some of it is a product of the process that over emphasizes and over values some players.

Granted there are 32 Selections in the first round. So, trying to figure out where those guys are going to end up, is part of the fun.

As we have written repeatedly, one guy who’s apparently going to go very high because of his skill set and where he’s played is college football is FSU’s Derwin James.

James had his Pro Day in Tallahassee earlier this week and it seems that he is solid as at least a top 15 if not top 10 pick.

At that pro day in Tallahassee this week, one of James’ mentors and rising stars in the secondary in the entire NFL was there to let the world know what he thinks of James. Jalen Ramsey is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars himself and believes James is not only the best defensive back in the draft, but should probably go number one overall.

That’s not going to happen, but it probably will not take very long for his name to get called somewhere.

By the way, at the combine in February, James ran solidly in the 40 yard dash, and even in comparison to what Ramsey did in Indy two years ago.

Our partners at NDT Scouting believe he is a possible fit at number 11 for the Dolphins and some other mock drafts have him going as high as number seven to the Buccaneers or maybe higher.

There’s obviously a recent history of Seminoles defensive backs including Ramsey (picked fifth by the Jags in 2016), going in the opening round. This includes the likes of Xavier Rhodes of the Vikings, who was taken 25th in 2013. And, also includes Patrick Robinson by the Saints at #32 in 2010.

James has size speed and pedigree from FSU.

And, you will hear his name a bunch over the next few weeks.
