With the Seminoles cranking up camp practices and with a monster opening game looming with Alabama, the attention around FSU and QB Deondre Francois will only build. And, on Wednesday night, the second year starter for the Noles was featured on the very popular late night edition of ESPN’s “SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt.”

The interview with Francois covered a wide range of subjects, not the least of which is, how he and the Florida State offensive line can better make sure that he doesn’t get knocked around like a pinata, as he did in 2016. Checkout a portion of the interview here:

It’s well known that Florida State will have to replace the most potent weapon that Francois and coach/play caller Jimbo Fisher had in 2016 in Dalvin Cook. And, it’s obvious that it will take time and development for which running back (or combo of backs) will end up being Francois’ compliment. We wrote earlier this week about one of those prominent options being Jacques Patrick.

Back to the conversation Wednesday night, Van Pelt covered and Francois tried to downplay, it’s not like the Noles are opening with a cupcake in game #1. No, instead, it’s arguably the toughest assignment an offense can have “out of the box;” play Nick Saban’s vaunted Alabama defense.

Then again, Francois is mobile dangerous QB and the type that has always given Saban’s defenses fits over his tenure at Bama. Reference, their issues in past seasons with the likes of Cam Newton and Nick Marshall of Auburn, followed by Cardale Jones of Ohio State in a famous loss in the College Football Playoff of 2014 and the last two years Deshaun Watson of Clemson in the two dramatic CFP Championship Games.

So, the Seminoles get ready for the Tide on September 2nd in Atlanta, and without question Francois will be a big key in that game and to FSU’s success in 2017. Therefore, the hype and the interviews have only started.
