It’s going to be a busy week in Tallahassee for the Seminoles. FSU hosted their pro day Tuesday for their athletes heading to the draft.

Players like saftey Derwin James and defensive end Josh Sweat looked to cement their draft stock. While guys like receiver Auden Tate and defensive back Tarvarus McFadden, tried to rebound and raise their stock.

There were NFL scouts, coaches and executives there and also, some other recognizable alumni:

The Seminoles also started spring practice this week with new head coach Willie Taggart.

This time last season QB Deondre Francois was preparing for his second season under center with championship aspirations.  Now, he is still trying to get back to full strength so he can get his job back. Francois suffered a season ending knee injury in the opener against eventual national champion Alabama.

It was a patellar tendon tear that had to be surgically re-attached and the Noles are definitely going to take it slow.

Taggart told the media, “right now he’s going to be able to encourage his teammates, be a great leader and keep rehabbing. … I don’t see him doing a lot (physically) this spring.” Taggart continued, “he’s got a lot of work to do, even though he’s not out there on the football field.”

And, he looks forward to seeing Francois put himself in position to compete with last year’s starter the rest of the way James Blackman, when he finally can later this summer.

Coming off of a 7-6 season, the Seminole faithful want more success.

With a tough opening week game in prime time vs. Virginia Tech, it will be interesting to see when Francois can get back on the field and compete for his spot again.

For Noles fans that are in Tallahassee or will be in the city, the first two spring practices will be open to the public.
