As the calendar has flipped to April, the Jaguars, like most teams, have tightened their focus on the upcoming NFL Draft to look to address needs. Interestingly, with the fourth overall pick, they will take a strong look at the top running backs in the class.
And before you dismiss that they might spend that pick on a top line back, consider what they have on tap for later this week. According to this tip, Jacksonville has planned visits/interviews with two “home run” tailbacks and a third who has some baggage/controversy:

The Jags have been consistently at the bottom of the NFL in rushing the last few years, and even though they drafted T.J. Yeldon in the second round of the 2015 draft, he’s been largely a disappointment without a 1,000 yard season and just 3 TD’s. They clearly need an explosive upgrade and those names would suffice.
The intriguing one on that list is obviously, embattled Oklahoma back Joe Mixon. Mixon was denied participation at the February NFL Combine after a video surfaced late last year of his 2014 domestc violence case, where he is shown hitting a female with a hay-maker. We also wrote last month about the Dolphins deciding they won’t even consider drafting Mixon.
It’s not likely that the Jags would spend the fourth overrall on a running back in a deep draft, but you could see them move down a few spots and still have a realistic shot at Leonard Fournette or Dalvin Cook later in the top 10 or 15.
It’s also a very deep draft at running back and there will be good names still for the second round and even the third or fourth. We know this: Cook would be exactly what they are looking for, and at the ticket window, as well.
