TAMPA – For those marking off the days on your calendars to the start of training camp, we are now just three weeks away from the Buccaneers putting on the pads and really getting after it.

That, of course, is when training camp gets interesting, when the camp battles for starting positions and roster spots truly intensifies and takes on some serious meaning.

With all that in mind, the folks at our parent site, FanRagSports.com, have been running stories in recent days detailing the top camp battles to watch for all of the NFL’s 32 teams.

The story on the top three camp battles to watch with the Buccaneers can be found by clicking onto this hyperlink, where you’ll find that one of those battles will be one of the most watched in all the NFL.

The other two are just as critical, however, to the Buccaneers success, as the Bucs are hoping to carry their strong finish on the defensive side of the ball over to the start of this year.

There’s a good chance they will, but they’re going to need a few players at a couple of key positions to come on strong and fortify at least one major area of weakness to do that.

One thing to keep in mind about the Bucs is that most of their starter’s jobs are already set. That means most of the battles in camp will be for roster spots and placement on the depth chart.

One of those battles will of course be for the backup quarterback’s job, which will definitely be one of the most intriguing of camp and one of the most important.

The Bucs first have to decide whether veteran newcomer Ryan Fitzpatrick or Ryan Griffin is best suited to backup quarterback Jameis Winston and if the answer proves to be Fitzpatrick, then what do they do with Griffin.

The call is not as easy as it may seem because the Bucs have now spent two years grooming Griffin, who may be a better long-term answer, though not necessarily the best short-term answer.

So, take a look at the battles we have listed here and if you think we’ve missed one that’s more important than the three noted, feel free to hit me up on Facebook or twitter and we’ll debate.
Until then, just keep marking off those days and before you know it, the pads will be on, the heat will be soaring and the Hard Knocks cameras will be rolling at Bucs training camp.
