As advertised, the renewal of “The War on I-4” had plenty of offense and scoring, and in the end, USF used their two best weapons to overwhelm UCF in a 48-31 victory.

QB Quinton Flowers ran for an early spectacular 62 yard touchdown run in the third quarter and added another 24 yard TD score as Bulls never led by less than seven the whole second half. Watch him take off here:

For his part, RB Marlon Mack (above) added two long TD Runs of 43 and 56 yards of his own in the first half, finishing with 155 yards on 20 carries overall.

The Golden Knights got off to a fast start with 6 play 60 yard drive where they scored just 1:50 into the game. But USF’s defense held them mostly in check, save for a trick play TD bomb, for the rest of the half, while building a 24-14 lead.

Flowers became the USF single season rushing leader with his 152 yards on the ground and added onto his USF yards from scrimmage single season record with 304 total for the game.

The Bulls finish 10-2 for their first 10 win season in school history and their second straight rivalry win over UCF. The Knights are also bowl eligible at 6-6, but there’s a slight chance that the two losses at 6-4 may hurt them playing a post season game, because the AAC has more bowl eligible teams with better records.
