TAMPA – It took a third-place tiebreaker to eventually knock the 9-7 Buccaneers out of the NFC playoff picture last year. Come the end of the 2017 season, the Bucs won’t need to worry about tiebreakers. They’ll earn a playoff berth on record alone.

That at least is the expectation of the folks at Pro Football Weekly, who have the Bucs earning a wild-card berth with another 9-7 record. How will the Bucs get over the hump? That’s all explained in this Pro Football Weekly podcast with PFW senior editor Arthur Arkush.

The podcast goes into detail about why it was the Bucs really felt a need to get faster on offense and how they intend to be better on defense. Also discussed is how the Bucs hope to improve quarterback Jameis Winston’s accuracy and what their real expectations are for Doug Martin.

It’s well worth the listen, and in case you’re wondering, PFW has the Falcons repeating as NFC South champion with a 9-6 record. PFW Also has the Falcons ranked seventh in its preseason power rankings and gives them 13-1 odds to win the Super Bowl.

The Bucs? They come up at No. 12 in PFW’s power rankings and their odds of winning the Super Bowl are set at 40-1. Their biggest question is, “is (quarterback) Jameis Winston the real deal?
