Could Jets Safety Calvin Pryor be option in Jacksonville?

The Jaguars have the potential to have a lethal defense on paper. The last two off seasons have seen a complete overhaul to the unit. The question is can they add even more talent to the unit?

We wrote about Dante Fowler being an almost forgotten young prospect earlier this weekend.

Now could a safety on another roster make sense in Jacksonville?

Current Jets Safety Calvin Pryor, a former first round pick, showed up to OTAs a day late, He also isn’t seeing eye to eye with the organization. With the Jets selecting safeties Jamal Adams and Florida product Marcus Maye last month, a change at the position is clearly on the horizon and Pryor appears available.

Pryor was reportedly being shopped around during draft time, but no one made the move. But, because the Jets did not pick up his fifth year option, it’s only a one year obligation for a team acquiring him, too.

This leaves the Jags with a perfect opportunity to improve the back end and possibly elsewhere. With thin depth behind Tashaun Gibson and Barry Church, Pryor can slide right behind the two and be a fantastic back up. Pryor though can be even more of a weapon than that.

We saw the LA Rams trade for Bucs safety Mark Barron and move him to outside linebacker. With Myles Jack being integrated into a Middle linebacker Pryor could thrive in the outside role as well as bouncing to safety once in a while. The asking price for the hard hitting safety will most likely be shrinking by the day.

The door is open for Jacksonville to become more dynamic on the defensive end the question remains to be seen if they make the bold move.
