The Jaguars ended their first week of OTAs Friday and at the conclusion of things, got second round draft pick WR D.J. Chark under contract.

The team made it official on their website Friday afternoon:

Chark, the former LSU Tiger who was the 48th pick overall in last month’s NFL draft, is expected to bring a deep speed element to the Jaguars passing game. We wrote previously that Chark has a great relationship with Jaguars stud running back Leonard Fournette, as they were roommates in Baton Rouge with two other players.

Chark actually told the media last week that he believes Fournette lobbied to have him brought to Jacksonville. He didn’t have a ton of touchdowns (three), but was a speedy deep threat who averaged a huge 22 yards per catch last season at LSU. Still, the Jags saw fit to take him in the second round of the draft.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, however, Cincinnati gave RB Joe Mixon (the 48th pick a year ago) $5.4 million over his four years with $1 million in the rookie season. So, that’s an excellent reference point.

Chark joins a talented, but young receiving corp. The Jags allowed veterans Allen Robinson (Bears) and Allen Hurns (Cowboys) to walk away in free agency. However, they re-signed Marqise Lee and gave the Colts WR Donte Moncrief a one year $9 million deal. The Jags also drafted speedy DeDe Westbrook out of Oklahoma last year, too.

First round pick, Gators DT Taven Bryan, is the only 2018 pick not under contract now.
