Okay it only took until the end of the week for me to finally recover. That was a heart breaker for the Miami Hurricanes. Oh man, my emotions on Saturday night were all over the place. But I spoke to my shrink all is well in the universe (sort of). This wont be a super late break down, because we can’t change the past. We must move forward. This week the opponent is UNC. A team that is coming off a blistering loss to Virginia Tech.
On paper the Canes should manhandle the Heels. They are far more superior on both sides of the ball. I must say, I was impressed with the defensive performance against FSU. That’s probably the best offense they are going to face the rest of the year and they equated themselves very well. My concern is on the offensive side of the ball. If the Canes want to take this Coastal Division and play in the ACC Championship game, they will need to keep Brady Kaaya’s jersey clean. He was getting crushed all game against the Noles. You could tell the pressure took him out of his normal rhythm.
As long as Miami protects Kaaya, Miami should move to 5-1 and stay in a good position to win the division. But this is going to be the biggest test to date for Mark Richt. It’s not so much how a team handles success that shows on the coach, but how they bounce back from adversity. On Saturday Richt has a chance to show us something we’ve been missing in Coral Gables for a long time. Something that the program had in it’s glory days. That would be intestinal fortitude. I know I’ll be watching, looking to keep my curse words at a minimum. However I can’t guarantee that, but i’ll try.
