It was gut check time in Miami and the North Carolina Tar Heels answered the bell and handed the Hurricanes a second straight ACC home defeat Saturday 20-13.
Coming off an emotional loss to FSU last Saturday night by one point, Miami was outplayed for much of the game. Mitch Trubisky threw for 299 yards and two TD’s, as North Carolina built a 20 – 10 lead.

The Canes came to life with a goal-line stand at the end of the 3rd and the beginning of the 4th quarter, where they stopped UNC three times from the 1-yard line.
But, after driving inside the North Carolina 10 Miami had to settle for a field goal and the seven-point deficit. The Tar Heels, who were blown out at home by Virginia Tech last week, could not run out the clock and gave the Hurricanes the ball with a chance to tie in 1:50 left on the clock.
But UNC’s Malik Carney stripped Canes QB Brad Kaaya forcing a fumble, which North Carolina recovered, that enabled them to run out the clock and seal the win.
With a victory coach Larry Fedora’s Tar Heels complete the state sweep of FSU and Miami on the road for the first time ever.
