If you don’t think there’s an anti-Miami bias among the ACC media, then you are probably cognitive dissonant. Just looking at the Hurricanes defense this year, it makes zero sense there didn’t have any players make the All-ACC First team this season, especially on defense.
In the nation, Miami ended the regular season ranked 26th total defense. They were 14th in scoring defense, 6th in tackle for a loss, 22nd in sacks. These are all national rankings. How did the ACC reward such strong national production? Only one player made the All-ACC second team, Corn Elder. Yes the same Edler who as a CB was top 3 on the team in tackles. Also the same guy, that opposing QBs pretty much refuse to throw to. The same Corn Elder, who probably is the best CB in the conference, he makes second team. It’s amazing that none of the outstanding linebackers made either the first or second team. It makes no sense.
The only two other players made second all conference team from Miami. Punter Justin Vogel was one the other was freshman WR Ahmmon Richards. He made second team. Which is a great honor for the young man, but it’s a little strange. Richards came in 4th place for rookie of the year. The honor went to FSU QB Deondre Francois. Okay I guess there is a QB bias for rookie of the year. Francois didn’t even make honorable mention as a QB. Richards on the other hand broke the single season freshman record for a Miami receiver, passing the Playmaker Michael Irvin two weeks ago. Richards led all freshman receivers in the FBS in yardage, and comes in 4th in the ROY voting in the ACC? What in the world were the ACC media members looking at? Cue Rodney Dangerfield…Anyways, head coach Mark Richt felt the same way:
It is hard for me to believe that we have one of the best defenses in America and only can get one guy as a second team all ACC performer.

Anyways hopefully this snub will not only motivate the Canes in their pending bowl game, but also push especially the defense next year to remove any doubt that they deserve the honors. Clearly you need to make ridiculous noise to get love from the ACC media when you reside in the 305.
