Former Canes TE David NJoku talks draft with NFL Media

As the 2017 NFL Draft approaches at the end of the next month, former Miami Hurricane David Njoku continues to be a very interesting prospect at TE. So much so, that their are numerous mock drafts that have him going at least in the first two rounds, if not the first round.

Our resident Cane guru/apologist, Ari Russell wrote about this earlier in February in the draft build up process here.

There are also unconfirmed reports that Njoku was entertained at the Buccaneers facility this week for one of their allowed visits with potential draftees. Teams don’t have to confirm these meetings, but some do choose to publicize who’s there or not. The Bucs haven’t commented either way.

However, they could definitely use a complimentary Tight End to Cam Brate who had a breakout 2016 in Tampa Bay. Njoku and O.J. Howard of Alabama are the two prospects that most teams are mulling over.

Then on Saturday, NFL.com released a quick Q & Q they did recently with Njoku about his Canes career and his prospects for the NFL:

It’s fascinating to look at that list Njoku makes of former Cane tight ends who not only got drafted but turned into successful pros. It’s also something that makes teams “perk up,” when he talks about his blocking, which is vital part of playing time, especially early in your career.

All signs are pointing up for his name to be called earlier in Philly at the draft.
