A little update in the ever changing situation around offensive lineman Branden Albert. Yesterday it was reported that he was going to be traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for TE Julius Thomas. That plan has seem to have shifted. Now it’s looking like the deal will not include Thomas but a draft choice, according to a report from the Miami Herald.
The Jaguars and Albert’s agents have been talking for several days about the offensive lineman’s contract and there is a good chance the Jaguars will not only take on Albert’s contract, which runs through 2018, but might extend the deal in order to give the player a greater sense of financial security — a way of enticing Albert to go play for the Jaguars.

The draft pick is going to be a late 2018 pick, perhaps a sixth or seventh rounded. This deal obviously isn’t finalized, it’s just proposed as March 9 is when these types of moves become official. It does look that it’s about 100% that Albert will not be playing in Miami in 2017.
