After an early season bye, the Miami Hurricanes get set to face their largest test in the early season on the road vs. Georgia Tech at noon ET. The early start didn’t effect the Canes in their win in Boone, NC against Appalachian State. On player who is going to have to have a huge performance in Atlanta is sophomore tailback Mark Walton.

Walton has been nothing short of spectacular in the early going with 401 yds rushing on 8.4 yds per carry. If you do the math, that’s pretty impressive. Sure it’s important to throw in the seven TDs he has in Miami’s 3-0 start. This is a productive player, there is no doubt. It also doesn’t hurt having Joseph Yearby and Gus Edwards behind him.

A lot before the season was made regarding the abilities of Brad Kaaya. However it’s impossible to overlook how the importance of a run game and Walton, specifically, has been for the Canes so far.  If Miami expects to get their first conference win on the season, expect big things from Mark Walton.

They are going to need it, especially with FSU in two weekends. Then, Miami wants to start smelling the beautiful aroma of the ACC Championship.
