It’s clear that despite looking to move the Miami Hurricanes back into the national spotlight, head coach Mark Richt isn’t playing when it comes to discipline. In a move that hurts their already thin defensive back field. Richt has dismissed S Cedrick Wright from the team.

Wright was a true freshman in 2016 played in nine games mostly as a special teams contributor. He had six tackles in those nine games.

Wright was suspended for the November 19 game against NC State. He also didn’t travel with the team to Orlando for the Russell Athletics Bowl for “failing to meet the standards of expectations set by the program”

In October Wright was in the car with former WR Sam Bruce right outside of campus when police found marijuana in the vehicle. Bruce who was already dismissed from the team was the only one charged.

Clearly there were a myriad of reasons for Richt to dismiss Wright and the two parties agreed parting ways would be the best ways for everyone to hit the reset button.

Wright who was expected to compete for a starting job with the graduation of Jamal Carter and Rashawn Jenkins will have to take his services elsewhere.
