The honors from the American Football Conference continue to pile up for the UCF Knights, but this time it’s a defensive player. After quarterback McKenzie Milton has been named the offensive player of the week 3 of the last 4 weeks, defensive end Titus Davis has garnered the conference’s defensive player of the week award.

Davis gets the recognition after UCF smothered SMU 48 – 20 Saturday night in Orlando. The senior from Atlanta finished with six tackles, three of them for losses, a sack and a forced fumble in the win.

Davis, who wears Milton’s #10 for the defense, was also a hero in the two biggest games of UCF unbeaten 2017 season.

In the American Conference Championship game win over the Memphis Tigers, Davis set a career high with 10 tackles including 1.5 for losses and another sack, as the Knights won in double-overtime. Then in UCF’s dramatic Peach Bowl win over Auburn, Davis had nine more tackles and half a sack, as UCF finished a perfect 13 – 0 for the season.

He is regarded as one of the leaders for Josh Heupel’s team, which on Sunday entered the top 10 of the AP Poll for the first time this season.

UCF has now pushed the nation’s longest win streak to 18 consecutive victories and get set for a huge road showdown again with Memphis on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. on ABC ESPN.
