The Jaguars search for a new play-caller continues and another prominent name is apparently in the mix.

Jacksonville radio host / reporter Jeff Prosser broke the story Monday morning that the Jags were talking to another candidate this weekend:

DeFilippo is the former offensive coordinator in Minnesota, who was unceremoniously dumped late in the year by head coach Mike Zimmer.

Zimmer had hired DeFilippo off of the world champion Philadelphia Eagles staff to come in and work with newly acquired free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins. However, the offense sputtered and late in the year in two key losses to New England and on a Monday night to the Seahawks, they scored a total of only 17 points.

DeFilippo was the quarterback coach for the Eagles and worked with not only starter Carson Wentz, but backup Nick Foles during last January’s run to the Super Bowl win over the Patriots. He is apparently in demand for other play calling jobs, as well. A report in Arizona says DeFilippo is talking with Cardinals new coach Kilff Kingsbury about their opening, too.

The Jaguars have already interviewed former Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, and a report on Saturday from ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that former Broncos head coach and longtime offensive coordinator in the NFL, Gary Kubiak, is also in play for the Jaguars opening.

With six of the NFL head coaching hires officially made, and the Bengals and Dolphins apparently zeroing in on assistant coaches that they cannot officially hire yet because of playoff games, the chase is definitely on to line up coordinators and assistant coaches.

We do know that Marrone has apparently decided on his new offensive coach, as we wrote on Sunday, it looks like former Bucs assistant George Warhop will join the Jaguars to be on the offensive line no matter who the coordinator is.
