With the biggest Jaguars game in 18 years approaching Sunday in New England, the media attention continues to build in North Florida and nationally. On Tuesday night, defensive lineman Yannick Ngakoue joined the NFL Network’s Prime Time show “NFL Total Access” to talk all things Jaguars.
Ngakoue helps lead a dominant defensive line that wreaked havoc on Ben Roethilisberger in last week’s upset with two sacks, an interception and a fumble return (caused by Ngakoue) for a second quarter TD.
Here was a portion of the conversation from the show:
If you don't know about @YannGetSacks91, you should!
But just in case, here's the DL on the @Jaguars DE ???

As host Lindsay Rhodes pointed out in the interview, of the eight Jaguar defensive TDs this sesaon, Ngakoue has had his hand in five of them causing four with sacks and picking up a fumble and ran it in himself in the season ending game at Tennessee. He definitely has made an impact in just his second season, also registering 12 sacks in the regular season.
We wrote last weekend that Ngakoue has also gotten the attention of the league with being fined over $72,000 in three separate incidents with hits on quarterbacks and also contact with an official in the San Francisco game. We wondered whether this would put him under extra scrutiny as a “marked man” or not. He was not flagged last week and the only “marks” were those on the Steelers at the end of the upset.
Make no mistake, the Patriots know what they face with Ngakoue, fellow youngsters Dante Fowler and Marcel Dareus and also veteran Pro Bowler Calais Campbell along that front. And if there is an area of vulnerability for Brady, it’s his inability to move very well or quickly to avoid the rush.
That will be a key in Sunday’s match up.
Finally, Ngakoue will be the biggest stage that he and most of his teammates have every been on come Sunday afternoon. Let’s see he continues to make an huge impact with his outside rush skills. Then, more people will be able to figure out and pronounce both of his names.
