Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey suffered a core muscle injury recently during the team’s Organized Team Activities and is now recovering from surgery to repair that injury.

Ramsey put out this message on twitter to fans today:

The Jaguars selected Ramsey with the fifth pick in the 2016 draft from Florida State University. Ramsey had an incredible rookie season as he started in all 16 games and continues to develop into one of the league’s top cornerbacks.

Ike Taylor recently rated Jags’ newly acquired cornerback A.J. Bouye and Ramsey as the league’s top cornerback duo for 2017.

As training camp approaches, Ramsey is expected to make a swift recovery and be a full participant, similar to his situation from last year. He suffered a small meniscus tear in his knee that he underwent surgery for prior to training last offseason as well.

With expectations high, the Jaguars are leaning on Ramsey to be a leader on defense. As long as Ramsey can keep his injuries to a minimum, this will be a strong season for Jacksonville.

Josh Ciganek is a young draft pick working his way up the depth chart on the F.F.I. roster, who enjoys watching and writing about all of Florida’s football teams.
