Jaguars grab veteran Chiefs WR Chris Conley

The Jaguars search for veteran wide receiver help has led them to a prominent Kansas City Chiefs receiver. The Jags announced on Saturday that they have signed former Kansas City white out Chris Conley to a New Deal to help what is a relatively inexperienced group:

Conelly comes off a very productive 2018 with quarterback Patrick Mahomes at the helm. He had 32 catches for 334 yards and five touchdowns. He has a career average of 11.1 yards per catch.

He caught a key touchdown pass late in the Chiefs wild Monday night loss to the L.A. Rams (above) in a game where both teams scored over 50 points in the game.

Conley was part of an explosive receiving group that included speedy Tyreek Hill and fantastic pass-catching tight end Travis Kelce. The Chiefs were one of the most dominant offenses in the Pros last year winning the AFC West and eventually going to the AFC Championship Game.

Conley was active for both playoff games against the Colts and the Patriots but did not have a reception in either one.

Meanwhile, we have documented that the Jaguars are now undermanned at wide receiver, especially with proven veteran pass catchers. This after, the team lost Donte Moncrief in free agency to the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this week.

The Jags signed Moncrief away from the Colts as the primary receiver on a one year deal last March to help replace veterans Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson, who had left via free agency. However, Moncrief had only moderate success.

So, now new Jaguars free agent signing quarterback Nick Foles has questionable weapons to go to with last year’s second round pick D.J. Chark and Dede Westbrook, a mid round pick from two years ago in the draft, not having put up big NFL numbers yet.

Jacksonville is also hoping that former speedy wide receiver Marqise Lee will return to form in 2019 after tearing his ACL in the preseason of 2018 and being lost for the year.

Conley was a mid-round pick himself in the third round from Georgia in 2015.
