With the 68th pick in the 2017 NFL draft the Jaguars selected Illinois defensive end Dawuane Smoot.
This is a high-upside pick for Tom Coughlin and company. With the Giants, Coughlin was known for developing pass rushers. Smoot will look to slide in behind Calais Campbell and learn from him and should become a mainstay in the league for years to come.
Smoot will look to translate his high motor, and his ability to play with his hands in the ground or standing to Jacksonville. Those traits led him to 15.5 sacks and 38.5 tackles for loss at Illinois. Smoot will look to help produce on the line with the likes of Campbell and Jackson in creating nightmares for the AFC South quarterbacks.
