Coming off their opening preseason game on Thursday night and an off day Friday, the Jaguars were back on the practice field on Saturday morning. And they got some good news on the injury/return to practice front.
First, defensive end Dante Fowler has been activated of the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, with an injured shoulder and others will be returning, too.
ESPN.com’s Jaguars reporter Mike DiRocco had the news Saturday morning:
Jaguars DE Dante Fowler Jr. (shoulder) is being taken off the PUP list and will return to practice today. Team also says DE Calais Campbell (calf) and WR Keelan Cole (foot) will return to practice. G Andrew Norwell (calf), RT Jermey Parnell (knee), DE… https://t.co/jgrDXdTyzM

Fowler has been dealing with the shoulder all off season. Looming larger is the fact that while he can practice and play in preseason games, Fowler is suspended by the NFL for the opening game at the Giants. His one game absence is due to his March “no contest” plea on assault and battery charges in connection with an incident in last summer in a St. Petersburg apartment parking lot.
That was not the first incident for Fowler, since joining the NFL He also pled-out an assault charge from 2016 in Dade County, but, did however escape NFL punishment for that incident.
Fowler seemed to be in a good mood Saturday, here:

Interestingly, Jacksonville had decided not to pick up Fowler’s fifth year option on his rookie contract earlier this off season. Instead, they publicly challenged him to continue to be not only a quality player, but better off the field.
Fowler blossomed during Jacksonville’s playoff season of 2017. The former #1 pick, had a breakout season with eight sacks, as the Jaguars defense was the top one in the NFL at rushing the quarterback. And, Jacksonville went on to win the AFC South and make the AFC Championship Game.
It’s also good news that Campbell and Cole were able to return Saturday after not dressing for the opening game with the Saints. However, free agent prized OG Andrew Norwell and first round pick DT Taven Bryan, who also didn’t participate in the game, are still not practicing yet, this weekend.
