What we are watching:

Get Fournette rolling

It’s obvious that one of the big keys not just for this opening game but throughout the season, will be can Jacksonville establish second-year power running back Leonard Fournette? As we’ve documented in the off-season Fournette his shed around 15 pounds to be leaner and more explosive for 2018. That’s a scary thought if it translates onto the field on Sundays.

He had five 100-yard games a year ago and the Giants have a new coaching staff and defense for this season. So, establishing #27 will be a key on the road early on in this one.

All Eyes on Ramsey versus OBJ

As we wrote earlier in the week one of the Intriguing matchups in this opening game will be Jaguars defensive back Jalen Ramsey hounding Giants go to wide receiver Odell Beckham jr. .

And even though Ramsey tried to downplay it on Thursday, you have to expect some trash-talking, taunting and maybe even, some yellow laundry on the field when it comes to the match up with these two.

And don’t expect either one of them to back down if it starts to get “chippy.” Ramsey alluded that he won’t be matched on Beckham the entire game, but it will be fun to watch when he is.

Finally, can Jaguars stand prosperity?

Unlike the beginning of 2017, where there was uncertainty about quarterback Blake Bortles (above) and the season, the Jags now have expectation to win. Coming off of a season where they won the AFC South and two playoff games, everyone in North Florida is confident that the Jags will be back in the postseason.

Unfortunately this season begins 0 – 0 with a clean slate, and the Jaguars have to put new work in to get back to where they were.

Even though the Giants had a bad season last year, QB Eli Manning and rookie RB Saquon Barkley are going to be ready to go for their home opener.

Let’s see if Jacksonville has intensity, enthusiasm and plays with the fire that we saw for a lot of the magical turnaround season a year ago
