We have been writing all week about Leonard Fournette’s status with his bruised thigh for the Sunday match-up with the Texans. Wonder no more. Word has leaked out Saturday night that the rookie star running back of the Jaguars will not be active Sunday due to the injury.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen broke the story:

Fournette injured the thigh at some point in the second half of the Jaguars victory Sunday over the Seahawks. The former #4 overall pick ran well, especially in that second half, with 101 yards and helped the Jaguars kill the clock with a crucial 13 yard run for a first down in the final two minutes of the game.

He has not been able to practice this week with the injury and was listed officially as “questionable” on Friday by the team.

The Jaguars will now turn to backups T.J. Yeldon and Chris Ivory on Sunday against the Texans. Yeldon replaced Fournette in October, when he was inactive with his ankle injury, and ran for over 100 yards in Jacksonville’s 27-0 win.

This is the third game Fournette will miss in his inaugural season. In addition to missing the October Colts game with the ankle injury, he also missed the Bengals game two weeks later for disciplinary reasons.

Fournette has five 100 yard games on the season and has rushed for 923 yards and eight TDs so far this season.

The Jags can clinch their first playoff spot since 2007 with a victory on Sunday.
