It’s no secret the Jaguars are desperate to get QB Blake Bortles some healthy bodies to throw at the end of this season. And, the challenge is finding “value” or guys that know the offense and can make a contribution, when not a lot options are out there.

As we wrote yesterday, one of those options who had been coming along since coming to Jacksonville mid-season Jaelen Strong is no longer an option. Strong, who the Jaguars got off waivers from Houston earlier this year, tore his ACL in San Francisco and will miss the rest of the season.

On the positive, Jaydon Mickens has been a great addition for the Jags since coming off the Raiders roster and practice squad after the year began. And he will be counted on, with the post season approaching.

Another such receiver was promoted Tuesday afternoon to the active roster in Montay Crockett. Crockett has been on the Jaguars practice squad for most of the year after being with Green Bay in the preseason.

Crockett is an un-drafted rookie free agent out of Georgia Southern, who had 32 career catches and three TD catches in his college career.

We also know that veteran WR Allen Hurns is close to returning to help give stability and a veteran presence in that room. Hurns practiced last week for the first time in over a month since suffering an ankle sprain. He was listed as questionable but did not play against the 49ers.

He could play some against Tennessee this week to try out the ankle and get used to “game speed” again, prior to the upcoming AFC Wildcard game that they are hosting the following week. The Jags are also hoping that Marqise Lee will be able to help them off his ankle injury in 10 days, but that is a long shot.

For now? It’s “next man up” for offensive coordinator Nate Hackett, and receivers coach, Keenan McCardell. And, that next man is Crockett.
