They say that “timing is everything.” And as it turns out, when Allen Hurns couldn’t get to New York to visit the Jets first this week because of a snowstorm, he went to Dallas to talk to the Cowboys, instead.
And now, they have agreed to a new deal for the former Jaguars wide receiver.
ESPN’s Josina Anderson had it first from Hurns himself:
WR Allen Hurns just told me, “I’m going to sign with Dallas.” #Cowboys

As we wrote earlier this week, Hurns was a salary cap cut by the Jaguars Monday after they signed Donte Moncrief from the Colts and gave him over $9 million guaranteed for 2018. This is in addition to re-signing Marqise Lee and having drafted DeDe Westbrook, a year ago, too.
Hurns battled a high ankle sprain last season, and played in 10 games with just 39 catches 484 yards and two touchdowns. Hurns’ best season was 2015 with 64 receptions for 1,031 yards and 10 TDs, but clearly, he’s not been close to being that receiver the last two seasons in Jacksonville.
Hurns will likely now get the shot to play alongside Dez Bryant in Dallas.
We say likely, because, the ‘Boys are also haggling with the Pro Bowler with some back and forth about his contract situation, etc.
Bryant’s current salary is $12.5 million, but his cap hit is $16.5 million if the Dallas releases him. That is not likely, but you never know with owner Jerry Jones.
The Cowboys are always an intriguing destination for any player, especially with QB Dak Prescott having solidified himself, as much as you can in the NFL, as Dallas’ QB.
Hurns was to have made $7 million in Jacksonville for 2018 before his release. It is reportedly a two year deal for him to join the Cowboys.
