Jacksonville Jaguars DE Calais Campbell was selected for the NFL Pro Bowl. He won’t be playing in the actual game because he sustained an injury during the AFC Championship Game. With that said the Pro Bowl over the years has been criticized because it let’s just say lacks the dynamic of other football games. Calais Campbell on his weekly podcast called “The Family Huddle” with his brother Jared and Josh Barnes discussed some ideas he has to make the game more entertaining:

“One thing they can change to make it better, you know I think one way to make it more entertaining you pay guys a little more…make it a little you know more worthwhile financially, guys will be a lot more intense…

…because, the thing about the Pro Bowl, the thing you have to worry about, because I remember when Tyler Eifert got hurt in a Pro Bowl that we played in a couple of years ago. He messed his ankle up and it messed up the beginning of the season next year. And he still ain’t really come back to be the player he was before then, so it’s kind of tough because as a player you want to go out there and compete and have fun, but you also you know want to stay healthy. You don’t want to risk potential contract situations, you don’t want to risk getting hurt and messing up next year…

It really comes down to making it more worthwhile or more safe. I know they said there’s some insurance for guys who are in a contract year and getting ready to be free agents…You are talking about millions of dollars in difference if they do get hurt, and that’s a big deal “

During the rest of this specific conversation they would get into further detail about how much would be a good amount to pay players. Then his brother Jared gave some wild ideas about what to give the fans.
