Not to be outdone by (Gator) and now Bucs corner, Vernon Hargreaves III, former Nole and now Jaguars corner Jalen Ramsey (above) and teammate defensive end Yannick Ngakoue were also named to the prestigious PWFA All Rookie team Tuesday.
Ramsey, Jacksonville’s fifth overall selection last April, was also, like Hargreaves starting from day one and played in all 16 Jags games. He finished with 14 passes defended on the season, and that included, 13 of them in the final five games which led the entire NFL. Ramsey had a clinching pick six TD return in the Jags week 16 victory over the Titans and finished with 65 tackles on the year, including 54 solo.
For his resume’ on the All Rookie team, the former third round pick, Ngakoue led all NFL rookies with eight sacks. That is also a Jacksonville franchise rookie record, as well. Ngakoue also had six other tackles for losses and also, was second this season on the Jags with 14 other QB hurries.
Clearly, they are part of the foundation for the new defensive staff still being assembled in Jacksonville right now.
