The Jaguars will take on the Steelers on Sunday without the offensive lineman many believe to be their best.
Center Brandon Linder, who has been battling an illness all week, did not travel with the team to Pittsburgh, the Jaguars said Saturday.
Wide receiver Jaelen Strong (hamstring) did not make the trip either the team revealed, meaning he will miss his fifth straight game.
Linder will likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Tyler Shatley, who will be making his first start of the year.
Shatley made four starts last year, including two at center in a Week 3 loss to the Ravens and a Week 14 loss to the Vikings.
The Jaguars promoted lineman Chris Reed from the practice squad to account for the loss of Linder.
To make room for Reed the team cut third quarterback Ryan Nassib.
