The Florida State Seminoles got a much-needed win over Syracuse on Saturday powered by Freshman running back Cam Akers. On Monday, the ACC rewarded him, too.

Akers 199 yard and two touchdown performance landed him his first accolades of his young career, as he was named Offensive Back/Rookie of the week for the ACC.
Akers’ break out performance with rushing yards are the most for a true freshman at Florida State since 1981. He has three 100-yard rushing games this season, tied for the second-most by a true freshman in FSU history.
With Jacques Patrick out for the Season, it was Akers who had the opportunity to step up and take control of the backfield for the foreseeable future. He did just that showing why he was such a highly anticipated recruit for the Noles on his not one but two long runs of 54 and 63 yards.
The Noles may have come into the season missing number 4 (Dalvin Cook), but number 3 looks primed to create a legacy of his own in Tallahassee.
