It was a battle for a little while, but in the end, the Florida Gators did what they’ve done to Georgia repeatedly since 1990, beat the ‘Dawgs 24-10 for a 21st win in 27 tries.
Sophomore running back Jordan Scarlett ran for 93 tough yards on 26 carries and a diving TD (above), as the Gators did enough offensively to build a double digit lead and then turned the rest over to their D to close it out.
Explosive wideout Antonio Callaway capped a late 3rd quarter drive with this score on a “Jet Sweep”:

That put the Gators up over Georgia by 11 at 21-10 and they were never threatened after that.
The Florida defense held the Bulldogs RB Nick Chubb to just 20 yards on just nine carries. UGA only had eight first downs the entire frustrating day. Meantime, Gators QB Luke Del Rio, with his NFL head coach dad Jack watching in the stands, finished with modest numbers throwing at 15-25 for 131 yards with a TD and an INT.
More importantly, Florida improves to 6-1 and most importantly 4-1 in the SEC which still leads the East division.
