The Gators game Saturday with LSU scheduled at noon is on….for now.

Hurricane Matthew continues to affect everything in the state of Florida’s east coast and in Gainesville and at the SEC office they are watching carefully:

There are a couple of variables in play, too. Obviously, the game could be played later on Saturday afternoon or evening if needed. There is also previous precedent, ironically involving LSU in 2005, when the SEC moved the Tigers home game with Tennessee to Monday night because of Hurricane Rita that year.

The biggest issue and motivation to play this weekend is that Florida and LSU have different bye weeks in October. So, obviously, with safety in mind first, the conference and teams will do everything to play this weekend. Even, an SEC version of Monday Night Football might be needed.

We shall see starting tomorrow.
