Despite not playing last week due to the threat of Hurricane Matthew, the Gators still had the speed and skill to overwhelm Missouri on Homecoming Saturday at the Swamp.

Florida’s defense ignited their efforts as Jalen Tabor and Quincy Wilson each ran back interception returns for touchdowns eight minutes apart in the 2nd quarter to build a 20-0 lead.

The Gators never looked back from there.

QB Luke Del Rio returned from his sprained left knee looking shaky at times with three interceptions, but did have a 3rd quarter TD pass to Tyrie Cleveland as Florida led 33-7 at that point.

And now with all the controversy about not having played the game with LSU, how it would potentially affect the SEC East standings if they didn’t play, etc., Florida does in fact move into first place with their win and Tennessee’s blowout loss to Alabama.

The Gators now control their own destiny to win out (including what is now a road game in Baton Rouge in November) and return to Atlanta.
