Jim McElwain has announced the addition of former DT Ian Scott to the Gators coaching staff. Scott will serve in the role as a graduate assistant.
Ian Scott played for the Gators in the early 2000s under Steve Spurrier, where he played in 32 games, started in 23. During his career Scott accumulated 120 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 18.5 tackles, 21 QB hurries, five pass deflections and 2 fumble recoveries. He was named All-SEC twice.
After his junior season, Ian Scott declared for the NFL draft, where he was selected in the 4th round as the 116th pick by the Chicago Bears. He spent four seasons with the Bears and three more seasons in the league with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Diego Chargers.
Scott’s only coaching experience has been as a defensive assistant for Daniel High School in South Carolina.
