As we wrote Wednesday, the Gators home game with LSU scheduled for noon Saturday at the Swamp has been “up in the air,” as Hurricane Matthew approached the east coast of the state.
Finally on Thursday afternoon, after consultation with both schools and officials with the state of Florida, the SEC took the drastic move to completely CANCEL game:
FLORIDA-LSU GAME POSTPONED

It’s most surprising that the conference didn’t force LSU, as the road team to play the “wait and see” game on coming to Gainesville at some point this weekend or even, Monday night. Or, order both schools to a neutral site like Tampa, or Atlanta to play this Saturday or this weekend.
As we reported in the previous story, Florida and LSU have different bye weeks later this month and therefore, it’s almost impossible to see anyway that the game will be made up before the SEC Championship on December 3rd.
There is speculation that with both teams playing easy “buy” home games on Saturday November 19th that the game could be played that day, but would LSU cooperate and who reimburses both schools for their lost home gate that weekend?
So, apparently, for now, we are only left with, “what might have been” for LSU at Florida.
