Gators Teez Tabor answers recent critics: “Turn on the tape”

We are now inside two weeks before the 2017 NFL Draft takes place in Philly, and the information and disinformation is flowing every direction from teams, prospects, agents, and analysts. One thing you must do, if there’s doubt or negative spin on your draft status? Fire back or at least have reasonable explanations against the criticism.

Enter, Gators defensive back Jalen “Teez” Tabor, who as we wrote two weeks ago about his pro day work out, not only didn’t solidify his standing as a potential #1 pick, but scared everyone with his poor showing, especially running.

Well, Tabor is now doing what he can to mitigate the concerns and very smartly, pointing people to what should ultimately matter the most: his game tape.

Appearing on Sirius/XM’s NFL Radio Thursday night with host Alex Marvez and analyst Phil Savage, Tabor spoke on a slight hamstring injury he’s been battling and answered the poor pro day showing this way:

Tabor’s strategy is sound. His game tape is mainly from the SEC, which is regarded year in and year out as the best college conference with the most NFL ready prospects in America. And with that in mind, his numbers the last two years are also worthy of note: 7 total interceptions, three returned for TDs (one above) and 20 passes defended.

We aren’t suggesting that Tabor will go in the top 15, but if the belief coming off of last season was: he’s a 1st or second round pick, then a poor 40 time on a pro day with a bad hammy doesn’t nullify it all either.

And, it only takes one or two teams, as the first round goes on to realize it, agree and take him. We’ll see.
