From winless to near the top of the American Athletic Conference, the Knights of Central Florida have once again made their way back to college football prominence.
UCF is 4-0 on the season and host East Carolina Saturday night at home in Orlando. Coming off of a big win over Cincinnati, the Knights will look to continue its undefeated season under the lights Saturday night.
One of the biggest components to UCF’s success has been star quarterback McKenzie Milton. After a stout performance last week that consisted of 16 completions for 374 yards and 5 touchdowns, Milton earned honorable mentions for American Athletic Conference offensive player of the week. He leads the best offense in the entire FBS, as UCF is ranked number one in scoring averaging 47.5 points per game.
In addition to Milton leading the top scoring offense in college football, the Knights will be facing the worst ranked defense in the FBS. East Carolina has allowed 47.8 points per game to their opponents this season including 34 to Temple last week and 61 to USF the week before.
It will be difficult for ECU to control the air attack that Milton brings without forgetting his ability to run the ball. Milton is second on the team with 206 rushing yards, only 40 yards behind running back Adrian Killins Jr. with the dual threat that Milton can pose, ECU will have a challenge on their hands with this offense.
The Knights will look to continue their defensive successes as well. UCF has only surrendered an average of 90 yards rushing per game thanks to their stout linebacking core, led by inside linebacker Pat Jasinski. Jasinski leads the teams in tackles, followed closely by Titus Davis and Shaquem Griffin. With ECU quarterback Thomas Sirk leading the team in rushing, the trio of linebackers will have to continue their dominance in Saturday’s game.
Central Florida enters this weekend’s game ranked number 22 and will look to climb the rankings even more. As head coach Scott Frost continues to build this program into a national contender, ECU will be just another stepping stone for the Knights currently undefeated season.
