On paper, FSU should have a laugher with Boston College at Doak Campbell tonight. But, that doesn’t mean the Noles can just sleep walk through this ACC contest being played on a rare Friday night.
Florida State comes off a comeback win over NC State last Saturday night in Raleigh. In that game against what is a less talented Wolfpack, the Seminoles needed QB Deondre Francois’ 330 yards and fourth quarter TD strike to Travis Rudolph late in the fourth to win by four. NC State also did a good job of containing the explosive Dalvin Cook to just 65 yards rushing.
So, that was last week. Here’s what we know about tonight:
BC’s defense is 126th (last) in the nation in total defense and will have it’s work cut out for it against the Noles weapons. Also, the Eagles finally won an ACC game two weeks ago after a 12 game skid dating back to last year. But, Louisville and Lamar Jackson seven total TD’s destroyed them 52-7 last week.
The likelihood is that Francois and company will do the same tonight.
For his part, Cook needs 127 rushing yards to surpass Seminole legend Warrick Dunn and become FSU’s all time leading rusher. But, the Eagles have held him in check (under 100 yards) in each of their last two meetings.
It is the first Seminole Friday night home game since 1957... and yes, even Lee Corso was part of that as an FSU graduate assistant that season!
